A Home for the elderly under the aegis of Ambikagiri Memorial Trust Society
The Memorial Trust Society is currently managed by a Board of Trustees. Many eminent citizens of Guwahati who have been closely associated with the activities of the Trust Society and are passionate about its cause have volunteered to become a part of the Board of Trustees. With time, the Board has welcomed new members, on the mutual consent of all Trustees, that has helped us embrace change and ideas of the next generation to carry forward our goal.
The present Managing Trustee of the Board is Smt. Jugabrata Dutta. We have Shri Biswa Datta, Dr. Jayasree Borah, Shri Paramesh Dutta, Shri Dilip Kumar Dutta Choudhury, Smt. Chandarekha Dutta, Dr. Siben Datta and Smt. Rashmirekha Majumdar as the Trustees.
Besides, we have an Executive Committee to manage and carry out the day-to-day activities of the Trust including the Home for the elderly. This Executive Committee functions in-coordination with the Board to ensure smooth operations and comfort and safety for all our residents. This Committee is a beautiful combination between veterans in Social Work and young professionals from different spheres, extending their voluntary support to help us carry out our responsibilities towards the society and specially, the residents of our Home.The Executive Committee is nominated by the Trustees.
Volunteers are the heart and hands that keep social organizations alive and impactful. The current office bearers of the Executive Committee are:
Smti Jugabrata Dutta: Smt. Jugabrata Dutta is a well-known social-worker and writer of the region. Being the daughter of Ambikagiri Roychoudhury and the youngest of all siblings, she has been actively involved in all matters related to the Trust Society and the home for the elderly since its inception.
Smti Pratibha Bhuyan: Smt. Pratibha Bhuyan, An entrepreneur, social worker and Philanthropist, has been actively involved in taking care of the residents of the Home as well as the operations of the Trust Society.
Dr. Jayasree Borah , a former Senior Professor of Cotton College and is Presently engaged as the Guest Lecturer at B. Borooah College , Cotton University & Guwahati University. She has also authored several books.
Dr.Kabul Saikia: Dr. Kabul Saikia is a distinguished orthopaedic surgeon based in Guwahati, Assam. He serves as the Professor & Head of the Department of Orthopaedics at Gauhati Medical College and Hospital
President
Shri Biswa Datta , an eminent Architect & Town Planner of this region, is currently the Managing Director of Excel Construction Pvt. Ltd, an architectural firm in Guwahati. He has been associated with the Trust Society since it’s initiation.
Working President
Shri Paramesh Dutta IAS(Retd), has contributed immensely to promote the activities of the Society. He retired from the post of Commissioner and Secretary Education Department, Govt of Assam in 2006
Vice President
Shri Dilip Kumar Dutta Choudhury, is the President of the Management Committee of Axom Jatiya Bidyalaya, Guwahati, Assam. He has been involved with the Trust Society and administration of ‘Amaar Ghar’ for a long time.
Vice President
Dr. Siben Datta is a renowned Consultant Anaesthesiologist and Critical Care Specialist based in Guwahati. He has been associated with Downtown Hospital since 1991 and brings extensive expertise in neuro-anaesthesia. He is also associated with several Social Organisations contributing towards the benefit of the society.
General Secretary
Smt. Chandarekha Dutta, a former lecturer of Kanya Mahabidyalaya, Guwahati. She is currently looking after the day-to-day activities of the Home and is an active member of the Trust Society.
Working President
Smt. Rashmi Rekha Majumdar is a senior official with the Rubber Board of India, Deputy Rubber Production Commisioner across its Guwahati Regional Office in Assam. She oversees key initiatives related to rubber cultivation and production in the Northeast region.
Joint Secretary
Smt. Suprabha Raychoudhury has been associated with the Handloom & Handicraft sector for several years and is an Entrepreneur managing a Handloom Manufacturing Unit. She also has a boutique ‘Abhipsha Creations’. Besides, she is the Executive Member of North East Women Entrepreneurs Association( NEWEA) and also associated with various socio-cultural organisations. .
Joint Secretary
Smt. Tribeni Bhuyan retired from RBI as a Manager. Apart from this, she is a noted social worker and represented RBI as a National veteran Table Tennis player.
We salute this team for rendering their endless service that has enabled us to ensure continuity in every phase of life.
Led by Smt. Anita Choudhury, this team comprises a Nursing Professional, Office Administration Staff, Housekeeping staff, Kitchen Staff and Ambulance Driver.
